This amazing vintage 2 piece dress was designed by Norma Kamali in the 1980's.  Norma Kamali was the first designer to use sweatshirt or fleece fabric in modern chic pieces.  This is one of her early 1980's designs and includes a purple skirt with an elastic waist and slit with snaps, and the matching purple long sleeved top, with Norma's signature shoulder pads, that snaps up the front.  The outfit is labeled size petite, but since the 1980's were known for oversized fits, I would estimate it to be a size 4/6.  Our mannequin is a modern day US size 2 and the skirt is a little too large for her.  This outfit is in overall very good condition, the only things to mention are the following; the labels are frayed as shown in the photos, and there are a few loose stitches in the waist band.  A great ensemble that represents an important look from one of our favorite designers!  Read Lisa's blog post about Norma Kamali.
