This is a stunning Issey Miyake pleated dress that made its debut in the A/H 1994/95 runway show! The models wore dark and light variations of these dresses with their stamped metallic designs in an array to silver to deep bronze. They topped off the look with lit candle hats on their heads! It was an iconic moment in this runway show, and a short sleeve style of the dress is in the archives of The Met!
This dress has the classic Miyake heavy pleating, with asymmetrical sleeves and hemline. It slips overhead and has a turtleneck that gathers and drapes. The dress takes beautiful form when on the body, and is truly a wearable piece of art.
This particular dress is a lovely pale tan color (it shows more peachy in some of the photos, but in person has a bit more yellow to the color) with a silver design. It has never been worn, and has the original Issey Miyake and Neiman Marcus tags still attached. Designed in Japan and made of polyester.
We acquired this vintage Issey Miyake dress from an estate we of a woman who owned many Miyake and Yamamoto pieces as well as YSL, Nina Ricci, Valentino and Celine. We loved this woman's style and her collection was very well taken care of, which is very important to us!
It is labeled a size small and would fit a range of sizes due to the oversized fit.
