The pretty little ones - Vintage Children's Clothing fashion editorials

Vintage Bill Blass Child's dress - Harper's Bazaar 1962

If I had little girls right now, they would definitely wear vintage clothing. Not only is it made so much better than most of what is available for children on the market today, it is also age appropriate.  Little girls look like,.. well,.... little girls.  These Harper's Bazaar fashion layouts, most of which were shot by Francesco Scavullo,  represent some of the best of girl's clothing from the 1960s.

Some of the finer children's mid century fashions were made by Countess Nemes, Florence Eiseman, Celeste, Nathan Krauskopf, Cinderella, Youngland, and Kate Greenway.  Department stores like Lord and Taylor, B. Altman, Best and Company and I Magnin also created incredible children's clothing.

In addition to companies dedicated exclusively to manufacturing clothing for children,  many fashion designers at the time also designed for children.  Bill Blass, Sunny Lee, Schiaparelli, Dior, and other mid century designers tried their hands at children's fashions.

It's refreshing to see beautiful. well made fashions, in higher quality natural fibers, on children for a change - instead of mini me pop star clothing cheaply made out of polyester and acrylic.  Consider buying vintage clothing for your child - start a trend that allows little girls and boys to dress their ages - in style!
