We absolutely love this iconic vintage YSL Russian Peasant style Rive Gauche black corset style lace up top. The top features an extra long rope string tie with tasseled ends that laces up the front and dramatic puff sleeves. It has a dramatic Queen Anne neckline.

This important blouse was part of the Rive Gauche Russian Ballet Russes Collection. Yves Saint Laurent loved this particular collection and has been quoted as saying that it was his all time favorite. You can see the couture version of this blouse from 1976 and the Rive Gauche ready to wear version from 1977 documented in the images below. The Rive Gauche advertisement for the top features a photograph by Dayle Haddon and the photograph in black and white is from the Tomb of Talma in Pere Lachaise, Paris, from 1977 by Helmut Newton.

The top is marked a French size 42 but it fits like a size 4 or 6. Fully closed it is more of a 4, slightly undone at the top it is more of a 6!
