Description
This ensemble is a great example of his unique talent and joyful viewpoint of Patrick Kelly! This 2 piece black and white cotton pique skirt suit with a fun musical note print from the Spring/Summer 1989 collection. It is black with white music notes, and it includes an elbow length sleeve jacket and a slim skirt. The fully lined princess seam jacket has a notched collar and a slight peplum hemline. There are front buttons for closure and sewn in shoulder pads in the lining for structure. The pencil skirt is also fully lined and it has a fixed waistband and closes with a zipper and button in the back. There are pockets and subtle pleating at the waistband.
We always love finding vintage Patrick Kelly pieces because we love what Patrick Kelly represented in his designs. Kelly's beautifully crafted pieces were full of whimsy without sacrificing tailoring or quality. Heavily influenced by his childhood in Vicksburg, Mississippi, Kelly paid homage to his mother and grandmother and the "church ladies" he knew growing up. He was the first American to be admitted to the Chambre syndicale du prêt-à-porter des couturiers et des créateurs de mode in Paris. Because his life was cut tragically short, Kelly was only able to produce a few collections, so his pieces are very collectible.
Fits a modern day size Small. We only use measurements to indicate sizing so please review the measurements for the most accurate fit.
CONDITION: Very Good - There are a few places of slight bleed (shown in photos) including under the arms and in on the skirt near the bottom.
In order to best determine fit, measure yourself or a garment of a similar style that fits you well. Compare those measurements to those on the item description.
