Description

This incredible Titanic era dress is full of beautiful design elements from head to toe! This Edwardian dress is all one connected piece, but consists of three different layers.

The top layer is the printed navy silk that has an abstract geometric circle design. The top wraps across the front and hooks in at the waist. The top layer is is sleeveless, letting the chiffon sleeves on the layer beneath come through. The sleeves are buttoned at the wrist, but open above the cuff for a flowing, butterfly sleeve effect. The sleeve layer is sheer, crossing across the front and securing at the shoulder. Another chiffon layer is just below, mimicking the V neck created by the top layer, and also securing at the waist. They layers are all connected to the skirt at the back, and the skirt also secures at the waist with a hook.

The skirt is layered as well, with a gathered hip that is weighted inside, adding to the structure of the beautiful folds it creates. The bottom hem in front is slightly gathered to give a bubble hem or hobble effect.

The beauty of this dress comes from the bold, structural details combined with the delicate, beautiful silk fabric. This vintage dress has one label inside with a handwritten "1887." It is in excellent condition, with only a few very small pin holes from the age of the delicate fabric.

We estimate this dress to fit a size 4 but please look at all of the measurements for the best fit. Keep in mind that the shoulders are small so the dress measurements need to be reviewed carefully. We acquired this dress from an estate we purchased that had many pieces from the late 1800s and early 1900s. The family was one of the first prominent families here in Oregon.

In order to best determine fit, measure yourself or a garment of a similar style that fits you well. Compare those measurements to those on the item description.

This dress fits like a size small. The bodice is meant to be blousy.
