Description

This famous dress style was the first look in Donatella Versace's first show as creative director of Versace after the tragic death of her brother, Gianni Versace. The Spring Summer 1998 show served as a memorial to her brother, and this strapless dress was a highlight, remaining an iconic Versace look to this day. Modeled by Kate Moss on the runway, paired only with pink snakeskin heels and a bold purple lip, and Erin O'Connor in a photograph by Richard Avedon.

The dress itself is strapless, with a fine black and white houndstooth that reads as gray. It has two rows of embroidery down the front that give the impression of distressed fabric, revealing the nude lining and perfectly following the curves of the body. It has the classic Versace built in "corset" with a side zipper, and the dress itself closes with a side zipper as well. It hits just at the knee, and has an effortlessly glamorous silhouette!

This dress is labeled a size 38 and is a wool, silk, nylon and acetate blend. It is in excellent condition. This is labeled a European size 38, but we estimate this to fit a modern day size 2/4. What a great piece of fashion history to have in your own closet! It is in excellent condition.
