Description

This bright pink vintage Patrick Kelly shawl coat is from the Fall/Winter 1989 Patrick Kelly collection, and it is just stunning. We love the soft, luxurious cashmere and wool blend, and the open front style. The collar is similar to a notch collar and shawl style, but with slightly less structure. The sleeves are wide and there are side slit pockets. The shoulders have a drop seam with shoulder pads.

We have always loved Patrick Kelly and we grab his pieces whenever we are fortunate to come across them! His joyful sense of humor, original style, and playful color combinations were inspired by his mother's Southern church lady relatives and friends. He was the first American to be admitted to the Chambre syndicale du prêt-à-porter des couturiers et des créateurs de mode. Not to mention, the first black designer!  Kelly died much too young and only produced a few collections in the 1980's. We wish he had been able to create many more because his collections were such a welcome contrast to the rest of the much too serious fashion world.

The inside is fully lined in 100% Acetate. The fabric content is 77% Wool 23% Cashmere. Made in France. Labeled a FR 38 but, because of the oversized fit and open front, we estimate this would fit a range of sizes. The measurements are taken at an approximate measurement of the coat laying flat.

MEASUREMENTS:
