Description
This 1960's vintage Norman Norell dress has front patch pockets, a belt and black buttons aligned off center up the front. The dress is in a tangerine orange knit with the famous impeccably tailored Norell lining and the belt is stamped Norman Norell.
This dress was one of several Norman Norell pieces we are offering on 1stdibs from the estate of a woman who was part of a very prominent Northwest family involved in the fashion industry. The Meier Family, Schwartz Family and Sadowsky Families were prominent members of the fashion industry for 150 years. Reuben Sadowsky was a prominent real estate and garment tycoon in the 19th century, having erected the Sadowsky Building at 1372 Broadway, NYC, the first manufacturing site in “Garment Town”. The Norell clothes were originally designed for Reuben’s only daughter, Betty Sadowsky Schwartz of New York City. Betty continued to go to New York to see Norman Norell's latest collections and to have Norell himself custom fit her clothing even after she moved to Oregon. We are so honored to be able to offer these beautiful pieces for sale and we hope you enjoy taking a look at all of the pieces from this collection.
