Description

This is an late 1990s or early 1980's piece from Issey Miyake's A-poc collection. A POC is an acronym for "A Piece of Cloth," a clothing line introduced by Miyake in collaboration with Dai Fujiwara in 1998. The concept focuses on computer generated designs put into a textile machine that give the designer the ability to create cylindrical garments that were cut off of a roll, all without sewing. The garment could then be uniquely customized. This was a revolutionary way of making clothing and many A-poc pieces are in design museums around the world.

This A-poc skirt came from the estate of an avid Issey Miyake collector who lived in Tokyo in the late 1990's through the early 2000's. This fun, colorful "inside out" a-line skirt has an elastic waist with a sea blue and kelly green rib knit stretch shirred fabric woven in between the waist and hips. The layered colors include a blue tinted green, sea blue and red purple. There are rows of polka dots across the skirt above a section and we love how the serged seams are exposed and the tag is also on the outside of the skirt!

Fabric: 99% Cotton 1% Polyurethane

CONDITION: Excellent vintage condition.

WAIST: 24'' - 32'' (Garment stretches significantly)
HIP: 40'' - 46'' (Garment Stretches Significantly)
LENGTH: 28''
