This 1980's vintage Norma Walters dress is in an optical illusion black and white stripe silk with red roses on the sleeves and in the back and green leaves. The roses have a black background with a white print that looks like flower outlines or spiderwebs. The trompe l'oeil shading on the stripes make them look shiny or metallic. The stripes on the skirt are going different directions, looking like they are woven. Two of the leaves are 3D, and come off of the shoulder of the dress on the right side.
We have become somewhat obsessed with Norma Walters' vintage dresses! Her patterns are so unique and her dresses are always beautifully made with unique design elements.
The dress closes with buttons (missing one) and has a cinched elastic waist. The bodice of the dress is somewhat oversized and has shoulder pads. There are dolman style puff sleeves, and pockets. This fabulous dress was made in Hong Kong and because of the oversized fit, though it is marked a size 8, we believe it could also fit a size 10.
