Description

This is such a beautiful vintage 1970's backless pink top by Anne Klein. It is a lovely shade of pale muted pink, with a pleated mock turtleneck that secures with covered buttons in the back. This great vintage top has elastic around the hem that sits at the waist. This creates a nice slight bubble effect, and would be perfect paired with a pair of high waisted trousers or a skirt.

This halter top is lined, and in excellent condition. There is no fabric content label, it feels like a rayon.  Fits like a size extra small/small

BUST: up to 34"
WAIST: 24-28" (elastic)
LENGTH (back): 10"
LENGTH (front, not including high neck): 20"
NECK: 4"

If you don't know a lot about Anne Klein, she was a very important designer in the 1960's and 1970's.Her fashion awards include the Mademoiselle Merit Award, The Creativity Award, The Lord & Taylor Rose Award for independent thinking, the Neiman-Marcus Fashion Award (she was the first designer to win that award two times), the Coty American Fashion Critics Award, which she also won twice, and in 1971, she was named to the Coty Fashion Hall of Fame.

In 1973, Anne Klein was one of only five designers, and the only American female, invited to show at the legendary Battle of Versailles fashion show competition. Klein, along with Oscar de la Renta, Stephen Burrows, Bill Blass and Halston represented American designers at the show. She brought along her then assistant, Donna Karan to help in France.

Sadly, Anne Klein died in 1974 at the age of 50, from breast cancer. Donna Karan and Louis Dell’Olio took over as head designers of the company at that time.  It took two designers to replace this incredible talent!
