Description
This pretty silk vintage dress was designed by Bill Travilla, one of Marilyn Monroe's favorite designers! He designed the costumes for Gentlemen Prefer Blondes, How to Marry a Millionaire and The Seven Year Itch, among many others. A friend of mine knew him and remembers him very fondly as quite a character who had wild animals on his ranch. Other than Marilyn Monroe, Travilla also designed gowns for other celebrities including; Whitney Houston, Faye Dunaway, Judy Garland, Sharon Tate, Jane Russell, Betty Grable, Lana Turner, Diahann Carroll, Susan Hayward, Loretta Young, Joanne Woodward, and Barbara Stanwyck.
This silk dress has a black and grey houndstooth design, with a distinctive gold chain, scroll and purple tassel design around the hemline. It is lined and has a back zipper closure.
The skirt of the dress is pleated, and I would estimate this dress to be a modern day size 8/10, but please use the measurements as a guide for the best fit!
BUST: 40"
WAIST: 30"
LENGTH from name of neck to waist: 17"
LENGTH from waist: 22"
In order to best determine fit, measure yourself or a garment of a similar style that fits you well. Compare those measurements to those on the item description.
