Dressing Vintage now has a studio! Our very special space is located in a beautiful historical building built in the 1930's in Portland, Oregon. We celebrated our grand opening this weekend with a private event that honored the genius of Yves Saint Laurent. It was a very special evening that allowed us to share our love of YSL and to show some of our collection to special clients, friends and family.
We thought this wall was the perfect place for a quote from Yves Saint Laurent's favorite author, Marcel Proust. The blouse below is one of a kind with a hand drawn image of Yves by Katie Acheson Wolford.
Choosing Yves Saint Laurent for our first studio event was natural for us. We have a huge respect for his talents and contributions to the fashion world.
The tables were covered with versions of the paper dolls that Yves created as a teenager! We shared delicious treats from a local French bakery and the beautiful flowers were a gift from our friends at Geranium Lake Flowers.
In honor of his French heritage, the YSL party included Boulevardier and Kir Royale cocktails and lots of champagne!
"Every woman in the world, sometimes without even knowing it, has something in her closet inspired by Yves Saint Laurent. His genius is irreplaceable."
Michael Kors
"Every designer has taken so much of Saint Laurent. Saint Laurent is in everything we do."
Dries van Noten
Our vast collection includes vintage Yves Saint Laurent from the 1970's through the 1990's. In addition to our vintage YSL pieces, our guests were treated to YSL fashion shows and interviews with the couturier running on a video loop on the walls in the bathroom!
"Chanel, Schiaparelli, Balenciaga and Dior all did extraordinary things...Yves Saint Laurent is like a combination of all of them. He's got the form of Chanel with the opulence of Dior and the wit of Schiaparelli."
Christian Lacroix
This was my favorite item of the evening - an original drawing of Yves Saint Laurent by Katie Acheson Wolford that was laser cut in acrylic.
"He was like Picasso in the way he kept transforming his style and yet each new one had an incredible impact on fashion.”
Valerie Steele, director and chief curator of The Museum at the Fashion Institute of Technology
“I want to thank the women who have worn my clothes, those who are famous and those who are not, who were loyal and who gave me so much joy.”
Yves Saint Laurent
"He’s the pied piper of fashion. Whatever he does, women of all ages, from all over the world, follow."
Diane Vreeland
A good friend of ours brought some pamphlets from the Musée Yves Saint Laurent in Paris so our guests could take those home with them, as well as our own mini tribute book to Yves.

It was such an honor to be able to share some favorites from our vintage YSL collection. Even though we couldn't invite all of you to our opening party, Katie and I would love to have you visit us in our new studio! Our next party will explore the important designers of the 1980's!
