Description
Yves Saint Laurent loved using one of his signature designs; the smock top, in various ways. By having it made in a luxe fabric and pairing it with more of an evening look, he elevated the smock top to be worn as a jacket with this outfit.
YSL was also a prolific accessory designer and he valued his accessories as much as he did his garments. This outfit can be belted over the jacket or over the top underneath - we are showing it belted with a vintage YSL belt (sold separately).
This late 1970's or early 1980's vintage 3 piece ensemble from YSL includes a flared skirt, sleeveless top and a smock style blouse / jacket with pockets and 3/4 length sleeves and upturned cuffs. The outfit is in a muted pale purple satin backed silk crepe. Yves Saint Laurent was always so creative with his use of fabrics in his designs, and with this one, he uses the matte crepe side of the fabric for the body of the blouse and the satin side for the collar and cuffs, and the satin side for the skirt. The skirt and sleeveless top are trimmed in black and when worn together, they resemble a dress.
All 3 pieces are labeled a size 34 and you can wear the outfit in a variety of ways! We estimate this outfit to fit a modern day size small but review all of the measurements because sizes are very different between different manufacturers. Please keep in mind that we measure all items laid flat and the measurements we give are for the garment, they are not the same as your own measurements. The best way to determine fit is to measure a similar garment that fits you well, laid flat, and compare the measurements.
