Early Kasper Penart Dress from Roy H. Bjorkman Minneapolis Designer Boutique
Early 50's beautiful fine blue silk vintage dress from designer Herbert Kasper, purchased at the high end designer boutique Roy H. Bjorkman in Minneapolis. This dress is in a gorgeous shade of blue silk with black and white dots and has a 2 piece sash. One part of the sash is the same fabric as the dress and the other piece is in a beautiful mustard yellow and loops through the other.
Excellent condition! This vintage dress is beautifully made, with a weight in the back to keep the fabric at the collar in place, and divine pleating. The bodice is lined in mesh and the dress has both the rare Kasper Penart label and Le Petit Salon Roy H. Bjorkman label. Herbert Kasper was known for making more affordable clothing look very expensive and I can definitely see why. He studied fashion at the Parsons's School of Design and at l'Ecole de la Chambre Syndicale de la Couture in Paris. He worked in various capacities for Jacques Fath, Christian Dior and Marcel Rochas. In 1963, he won the Coty Award for American designers. The Penart label is the earliest of the labels that bears his name and this dress is a perfect example of his work.
