Closets are filled with incredible investments.
Over the past few decades, we have worked with dozens of estate professionals and individuals in charge of handling estates of vintage clothing and accessories.
Since our job is to daily remain on the pulse of the vintage and pre-owned market, a well as always buying to anticipate future trends, our goal in working with estates is to source fantastic pieces while helping to ease the often overwhelming task of assessing estate clothing and accessories for value.
We take great care to go through each and every piece in a collection, doing research when needed, and providing either a fair and generous bid, or alternative selling avenues. The clothing and accessories in an estate are too often overlooked for value, and we love to pay a premium for a collection that took a lifetime to build! We make it easy by providing the best bid in town, often for things that many clients would have otherwise discarded.
If we are interested in purchasing the entirety or part of an estate of clothing and accessories, we provide a bid to purchased outright. If there are any items of significantly higher value that is not in our purview, we will direct you to the avenues where you can receive the highest return. We are also happy to work on a consignment basis for these high value items to ensure the highest yield.
If you are local to Portland, Oregon and the surrounding area, feel free to send us an email at firstname.lastname@example.org introducing yourself and giving us an idea of the items you have available. We would love to come take a look, or we can host you in our studio in NW Portland.
OUT OF STATE SELLERS
We have lovely array of private clients that sell to us from outside of Portland! With these clients, we work through photographs and written descriptions to assess items. Feel free to send us an email: email@example.com introducing yourself and the items you have available. We are happy to let you know our process.
WHAT WE BUY
Everything we add to our collection is in excellent or near excellent condition. We buy everything from the late 1800s to early 2000s, and often invest in more current designer pieces. We love designer and lesser-known labels, as well as no-name vintage if it is unique and high quality. We love color, texture, prints and fun! We are always looking for evening dresses and gowns. Our want for separates, coats and other categories changes often due to current inventory needs.
To give you an idea of the kinds of things we love, feel free to browse our "New Arrivals" section.
Some of our favorite designers are:Gilbert Adrian
Comme des Garcons
John Paul Gaultier
Yves Saint Laurent
Oscar de la Renta
Why do you buy outright instead of just doing consignment?
We are in the business of cyclical fashion. Trends come in and out - a designer may be flying off our racks one week, and we may not sell another piece for a decade. Our motto is to always buy quality, craftsmanship and uniqueness, even if it isn't "in" at the moment. This motto has served us well over the years, and allows us to take a large amount of risk on our part to invest in pieces that won't sell this week or even this year!
Consignees take on all of that risk, and often are left with the piece deeply discounted or back in their closet after the consignment period. We don't believe that this makes a piece worthless, it just wasn't timed right.
I live out of state and have an overwhelming amount of things to sell. Is sending photos the only way you buy remotely?
Absolutely not! Most of our clients prefer just to send photos, but we have done facetime estate assessing, and have flown all over the country for specific collections. We are always striving to make this process as smooth and easy as possible, so if photos sound daunting, just let us know and we can find a better alternative.
Do you buy seasonally?
We buy all seasons all year round! The only exception is that we don't often take coats at the end of winter unless they are really exceptional.
Do you buy designer diffusion lines?
We buy couture and ready to wear, but tend to stay away from further diffusion lines, unless the piece itself is incredible! If you see diffusion on our site it is generally from a collector who had nothing but the best, and knew how to sprinkle in the best of a diffusion collection!
Working with individuals and estate professionals is one of our favorite part of selling vintage. We hope to hear from you soon!
